'NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE"

Today, on this day, June 25, 2009, not only myself, but the world, has suffered greatly at the loss of not only just and entertainer but an ICON. The death of Michael Joseph Jackson has come as a major shock to us all.

As a young child, my favorite musical artist had always been Michael Jackson. Although I was born in 1985, three years after the release of "Thriller" and two years before the release of "Bad", Michael Jackson was the prominant musical fixture in my young life. Growing up all I knew was the Jackson 5, the Jacksons and most prominantly, Michael Jackson. I can remember my parents buying me the Jackson 5 albums to add to my Michael Jackson collection and me singing every song every day of the week. I can remember placing countless posters of Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan on my walls and calling my room the "M.J. Room". I can remember dancing and spending countless hours trying to learn the choreography to every Michael Jackson video that came on the tv. I also spent countless days and nights watching "The Wiz", "Michael Jackson's Moonwalker" and "The Jacksons: An American Dream". To sum it all up, I consider myself a "true" Michael Jackson fan. I can recall my mother buying me the "Beat It" jacket with the zippers and creating my own "Michael Jackson Glove" to pretending I was hiim in concert singing his songs. For some, these may be things that one may be ashamed to say they did when they were young, but for me, it's all truth. Michael Jackson touched my life and so many other's lives through his music. Any special that came on dealing with him, I watched. Anything that was anything dealing with Michael Jackson, I tried my best to be along for the ride. Even after his legal troubles began to surface, I remained a 'ride or die' Michael Jackson fan, unlike those who were quick to jump off an throw stones at the man or those who continued to joke about the things he was going through, his past, his childhood or whatever. None of that mattered to me because the music was what it was about to me. We're all human and have our troubles. With that said, this post doesn't do justice to the way I feel about not only the man, but the ICON, now angel. Michael Jackson has done so much for us and I'm blessed to have had the opportunity to witness greatness at it's best for 24 years. My prayers definately go out to his children and the rest of the Jackson family. Michael, I know you can hear all of our prayers and cries. We love you and will surely miss you, FOREVER!

R.I.P. to the Greatest Musician to Ever Live!

By Ismael AbduSalaam

"NBA star Carmelo Anthony has finalized a joint venture with his imprint Krossover Entertainment and Atlanta-based record label Block Entertainment.

For the last few years, Block Entertainment has been a consistent force in Atlanta’s music scene due to the star power of Yung Joc, Gorilla Zoe, and Boyz N Da Hood.

The joint deal will initially focus on promoting the national debut of Atlanta artist Diego Ca$h.

Locally, the Eastside rapper has been making a name for himself on mixtape collaborations with DJ Drama (Gangsta Grillz), DJ Smallz (Kill Ya Self), and DJ Paperboi (800 Bodies).

With ‘Melo’s roster already including Philadelphia emcee Cassidy, Diego Ca$h feels blessed to come into a label situation surrounded by experienced industry professionals.

“I am privileged to be in a position where I am able to work with such seasoned individuals in the music industry,” Ca$h stated to AllHipHop.com. “I plan to continue to create quality rap music while furthering my brand as a rap artist.”

Carmelo Anthony is aware that many fans don’t take basketball player labels seriously.

With his recent signing and joint label venture, the Denver Nuggets star expects fans to begin recognizing Krossover Entertainment as a legit entity in Hip-Hop music.

“By joining forces with Block Entertainment, I am looking forward to a great business relationship,” Anthony stated to AllHipHop.com. “In addition to long term musical success, this movement will mark new territory in not only the Atlanta market but all over the country as well.”

Diego Ca$h’s latest mixtape, 800 Bodies, is available at http://www.krossoverent.com/. "

NEWS: Update - LAPD Identify Shooter of Rapper "Dolla"

Written by: Chris D

"Today, the LAPD has identified the man that allegedly shot and killed Roderick Anthony Burton II, a rapper known as “Dolla.” The man arrested is named Aubrey Louis Berry. Dolla died Monday after a shooting at 3 p.m. at the Beverly Center Mall in Los Angeles. The accused shooter was arrested at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as he tried to board a plane. Berry is being held on a million dollar bail, and the police are searching for another suspect, who fled the crime scene in a silver Mercedes-Benz SUV. Apparently, Dolla was shot in the head as he and another rapper, D.J. Shabbazz waited for their car in a valet parking area. Dolla, who was signed to fellow rapper Akon’s Konvict music label, was a noted up-and-comer on the national charts. His song “Who Da F*ck Is That” was a hit last year on the radio and in the clubs. Dolla’s shooting should not be confused with another shooting in March – where the rapper Dollar Bill died. Anthony “Dollar Bill” Levy was shot and killed by Miami police after a standoff in the attic of a house. He had barricaded himself with a bulletproof vest and a great deal of ammunition. The SWAT team was called in and Dollar Bill was shot when he allegedly tried to stab one of the police officers with a knife. Before his death, Dollar Bill was wanted on several charges, including aggravated assault, firearm possession on school property, and kidnapping. Rest in peace, brothers."

LOS ANGELES — Rapper Dolla was fatally shot near a valet stand outside a mall after a dispute with another man Monday afternoon, his publicist said.
Dolla, whose real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II, was shot in the head at the Beverly Center near West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, publicist Sue Vannasing told the Los Angeles Times. Police and coroner's officials have not confirmed the victim's identity.
An armed man was detained at the Los Angeles International Airport for questioning two hours after the shooting, police said.
Vannasing said Burton and another rapper, D.J. Shabbazz, were waiting at the valet stand after a shopping trip when a gunman opened fire on the Atlanta-based rapper.
Police Officer Karen Reyner said the victim and the gunman had been arguing before the gunman attacked and fled in a silver Mercedes-Benz.
Burton worked on the soundtrack for the 2006 dance film "Step Up" and recently released two singles with the singer Akon: "Like This" and "She So Fine."
